I originally found this company by random google search/kijiji, can’t recall. In any event, I dealt with MJ and after some back and forth booked and put down a deposit for my daughters 1st bday about a week or so ago, I was given an invoice, everything was fine. Last night my aunt passed away and so I had to cancel my daughters 1ST birthday party, I sent an email explaining and asked if deposit can be sent back. NOT 2 MINS later, I received an email confirmation from TD stating Uniq events accepted my etransfer deposit (I never realized he didn’t accept it a week before when I originally sent it), then a few mins after that, he says sorry it’s their policy that the deposit is non-refundable. What kind of disgusting, disgraceful human being does this!! They hadn’t even deposited the damn deposit and only did right after I said I had to cancel due to a DEATH in my family. It’s not as if I had planned on it. And no where, not once in our correspondence did he ever say; by the way, the deposit would be non-refundable once booked. They basically scammed me, even after I explained I was a single mom just trying to plan a nice bday for my daughter whose father has also died when she was just 7 months old. It’s not about the money, I wouldn’t have cared had he mentioned it before or accepted the payment after I sent it to confirm. But to take the money right after like that, then turn and say sorry too bad, absolutely disgusted! I understand if I had rebooked in the future, it would be deducted but there’s no way in hell they’re getting any more of my money after that kind of experience and ill will. I would NOT recommend this company, nor would I ever book them in my lifetime, I will also be advising all my friends and relatives not to use their services. Just wow!
